Faith - God Abides in Us

Faith is the Realization

Faith is the realization that God abides in us. God is both within us, through the Holy Spirit, and beyond us. Faith is not about knowledge or about having all the “facts” about God. Faith is the inner feeling that God is near, within our souls; although I cannot see God’s face or hear God’s voice. Even though I have never experienced a vision or other manifestation of God, by faith I know that God is near. We can have a relationship with God for as Julian of Norwich says, “Before God made us, he loved us and this love was never slackened nor ever shall be.” Because God loves us, I can “talk to God.” I can ask for God’s help, give thanks for blessings and ask for forgiveness.

Faith is the Inner Conviction

faith, god abides
Faith is the inner conviction that God is always available to us. We are never alone. Faith is not about having knowledge about God; rather faith is about a relationship with God, for God wishes to be known. Julian of Norwich wrote in her Revelations of Divine Love that, “We ought highly to rejoice that God dwells in our soul, and much more highly to rejoice that our soul dwells in God. Our soul is created to be God’s dwelling place, and the dwelling place of the soul is God.”Save
